UKCC LEVEL 2 IN COACHING ROWING
Demand generally allows me to run two-three courses a year in the region. These can be fixed or sliding seat. The course is at the moment the entry level into coaching so has no prerequisites. This course is fairly intensive so this needs to be taken into account when applying. On this course the focus is on HOW to coach, as opposed to WHAT to coach. The course will take 2 full weekends and 2 weekday evening sessions. You will then be set an assessment date which will normally be about 3 months after the course.

Where do these courses run?
The venues tend to change depending on where the demand is coming from, with a large geographical area to cover I try to vary the course venues. If you think that your club could host a course please get in touch. We will need a classroom venue, calm water and access to boats.
How much do the course cost?
The average price is £350 per person. Your club can seek external funding to help pay for this, contact your local county sports partnership for more details. We are fortunate to be supported by Active Devon, who allocate a coach bursary for some courses. You will also need to become a member of British Rowing at silver level (currently £25).
Do I need to have coxing experience?
This certainly helps, as if on the fixed seat course - you tend to coach from the coxswains seat. You will also need to do a man overboard drill - which will require you to steer and control the boat.
Who tutors on the courses?
British Rowing employ a coach education team, who are qualified tutors and assessors. Some are sliding seat specialists and some are fixed seat specialists.
WORKSHOPS
I also run a series of workshops throughout the year. These include those required for clubmark status. All are 3 hours long, and £18 for British Rowing members, £33 for non members.Child Protection
Pat Dollard of Kernow Training delivers 3 hour courses. This includes the basic 3 hour course aimed at coaches and volunteers, plus 'time to listen' which is aimed at Club Welfare Officers.
GB Rowing Technique
This is delivered by GB Rowing Team staff, one will be rolled out in December this year - more to come soon!
Rigging
A basic rigging workshop, tutored by Sallie Malt.
I am very interested in. May I ask to spoon feed the detail please?
