Cornish Indoor Rowing Championships 2015



The date has been set for the Cornish Indoor Rowing championships 2015 - Saturday 24th January. As usual this will follow the Cornwall School Games indoor rowing competition on the 23rd January which is open to all schools in Cornwall. Both competitions will run at Newquay Sports Centre

West Region competitors at the national indoor rowing championships

On the 21st March several competitors from the West of England competed in the National Junior Indoor Rowing Competition (NJIRC) in London.

This included a coach load from Plymouth School Sports Partnership, Callington school, Newquay Tretherras, Paignton ARC, Wadebridge & Greenbank Falmouth.

This included medal winning performances from Hettie Bawden (Bronze) - Greenbank Falmouth, Tom Worden (Bronze) - Greenbank Falmouth, Jack Adams (Silver) - Polperro RC & Plymouth SSP, Hugo Culverhouse (Gold) Wadebridge School. Relay teams from Plymouth SSP also picked up medals in the team event in both Girls and Boys.

Several of the rowers have been supported by a travel grant from Cornwall Sports Partnership. This has made it easier for rowers from the county to compete at national level competitions.

UCP Marjon West Regional Schools Indoor Rowing Competition 2014

Congratulations to all who competed in the UCP Marjon regional schools indoor rowing competition. 371 pupils from over 36 schools took part in the competition on the 4th March.

Indoor Rowing results and next competitions

With January seeing two school games competitions kick off the new year - there is more to come!

CORNWALL

Cornwall School Games saw 222 take part - check out the following link for results  

Cornish Open competition saw 63 people from adult, down to juniors take part - follow this link for the results

WESPORT

On 24th January, indoor rowing was included for the first time in the School Games for the West of England - held at the University for the West of England. Click the following link for results and pictures.

DEVON

The next competition takes place on Weds 5th Feb - the Plymouth City Champs, open to all secondary schools in the Plymouth Partnership.

REGIONAL INDOOR ROWING COMPETITION

All those from Cornwall, Devon and Somerset are welcome to enter the UCP Marjon West Regional Schools indoor rowing competition - held on the 4th March at UCP Marjon. Please follow the link for entry details - entries to be made through SCHOOLS.

Cornish Indoor Rowing Weekender - information & draw!

Cornwall School Games - 17th January

Open to all Cornish Secondary schools as part of the 2014 School Games

We have a huge 303 entries from 22 secondary schools. This is a great entry and shows that indoor rowing is starting to become a big part of sport in Cornish Schools. The event will start at 12.30pm SHARP. Anyone who is involved in this please encourage your schools to arrive as early as possible to allow for plenty of time for registration. Any changes to teams on the day will slow up the event so please bear this in mind, thanks.

Cornish Indoor Rowing Competition - 18th January

This year we have 63 entries which is similar to last year. Please bear in mind that this is a small friendly event.

There will be medals for the top placed finishers in each category. Those categories marked with a star mean that only one person has entered that age category. Only categories with 2 or more competitors will receive a trophy. On the excel sheet you will see the race order and rough timings for races. Here they are: race times are approximate and may be subject to change

  2. Junior year 9 - 10.05am
  3. Junior year 10 - 10.15am
  4. Junior female year 11 - 10.25am
  5. Junior male year 11 - 10.30am
  6. Womens open LW, HW & yr 12 - 10.45am
  7. Womens 40+ HW & LW - 11am
  8. Mens open HW - 11.15am
  9. Mens 40-49 HW, 50+ HW & Yr 12 - 11.30am
  10. Mens LTA, 50-59 LW, 70+ HW, 65+ LW & Yr 12/13 - 12pm

500m sprint challenge
enter on the day £2 a person, token prize for winners of following categories:
junior male, junior female, mens HW, womens HW, mens LW, mens HW

12.45 - 1pm Relay teams - 2000m relay between 4 people
junior, mens and womens
You are encouraged to make up composite relay teams on the day.

Arrivals from 9am - those racing lightweight please weigh in at least an hour before your race
